Art Journey

A love of family, this country and nature inspire me to capture people and places in art form. Experienced in the use of Oils, Pastel, graphite, pen, coloured pencils and acrylics, my early works were commissions of historic buildings and other rural subjects.

While living in the Central Burnett I served as an Art Steward for the Mundubbera Show Society for many years and was a member of the Regional Arts Development Fund Committee. Awarded the Australia Day Senior Cultural Award -Mundubbera Shire. Encouraged by prizes at numerous regional shows and commissions, I continued to paint in different media, and my work has been acquired by Shire Councils, City Councils and Regional Government Departments as well as by private collectors nationally.

I have been selected as an exhibiting finalist in the prestigious Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular each year since 2013 , with multiple sales at these events.
Selected as an exhibiting finalist at the Lethbridge Landscape Prize 2021 and 2022.

Recent works are landscapes, seascapes and beach scenes using Oils or Pastels, with an interest in figure studies and fine pen detail work. Commissions are accepted. If you have a favourite photo of a time or place that you would like me to use as a reference to produce an artwork, please contact me.
A selection of my work is available at the Newly opened Margaret Street Gallery 172 Margaret Street Toowoomba. For any enquiries please contact me direct at amurphy.art@gmail.com.
